Psalm 5 (Awaken Day 14)

Psalm 5:5,7
5
The arrogant cannot stand in your presence;
you hate all who do wrong.
...
7
But I, by your great mercy,
will come into your house;
in reverence will I bow down
toward your holy temple.

A note in my Bible describes the arrogant as "those who refuse to live in humble reliance on the Lord."

David tells us here that what God desires from us is humility, a humble reliance on Him, and reverence for who He is and what He has done. He also explains, though, that it is only by God's mercy that we can come to Him, and I believe it is by His mercy we can have that humble heart. Our human nature is less than humble, to say the least :), but God can soften our heart to a place of humble reliance on Him.
